Nik Keatley
DIRECTOR PROFILE
Nik entered the field of architecture and construction upon leaving school in 1987 when he undertook an apprenticeship with a traditional architectural practice based in Southampton. Whilst attending Southampton Institute of Higher Education on a day release basis, Nik obtained an HNC qualification in Building Studies in 1991. He then went on to work successfully within a number of local architectural practices as a Senior Architectural Technician until the formation of N&J Design in 2001.
Since 1987, Nik has worked continuously in the field of architecture and planning, gaining extensive experience in residential design, including one off houses, small scale housing developments and extension projects.
Away from the studio, Nik has a wife and three daughters to keep him busy! When time allows, Nik enjoys cycling, walking and kayaking, and is never too far away from a beach! Alongside architecture, Nik’s other passion is for air-cooled Volkswagens, his 1963 VW Beetle regularly taking him to various shows across the UK and Europe.
Lydia Keatley
STAFF PROFILE
Lydia is the youngest of Nik’s three daughters and joined the studio in the summer of 2025 after an earlier career as a Kitchen Designer.
She has an excellent knowledge of design software including AutoCAD and SketchUp and supports Nik on a daily basis by preparing CAD drawings, planning applications and measured surveys. She also looks after the studio’s social media accounts and is much better at keeping project files organised than her dad!
Outside of the studio, Lydia enjoys travelling and has recently returned from visiting her sister in Australia. She also enjoys interior design, painting, walking and paddle boarding.
